Yakgwa with Mother-of-Pearl Design... SPC Samlip Launches New Product

Premium Dessert Brand Daehan Gwaja Launch
Expanding Jocheong Moyakgwa and Jipcheong Processes for Moist and Sweet Taste

SPC Samlip announced on the 31st that it has launched a premium traditional dessert brand called 'Daehan Gwaja-jeom' and released its first product, 'Jocheong Moyakgwa.'

Daehan Gwaja-jeom is a premium dessert brand that deals with Korea's unique traditional desserts, planning to release products that capture the charm of various traditional desserts enjoyed by ancestors in the past. The first product is Jocheong Moyakgwa, a reimagined version of Moyakgwa, which is also familiar to the younger generation.

Jocheong Moyakgwa is made with aged dough using domestic wheat and glutinous rice, enhanced with Korean jocheong (traditional malt syrup), sesame oil, cinnamon powder, and ginger powder to add a savory and sweet flavor. The Moyakgwa is fried to a thickness of about 18mm, and the juice-cheong process (soaking Moyakgwa in honey or jocheong) is significantly extended to allow the syrup to deeply penetrate, maximizing a soft, moist, and sweet taste. It is available for purchase at convenience stores nationwide.

The packaging features designs inspired by traditional Korean craftsmanship such as Najeonchilgi (mother-of-pearl lacquerware), Deoksugung Jeonggwanheon where Emperor Gojong used to enjoy tea, and the royal symbol Ihwamun, with mother-of-pearl patterns adding a luxurious image.

An SPC Samlip representative stated, "We also plan to sell Jocheong Moyakgwa gift sets through online channels," adding, "We intend to diversify the traditional dessert line under the Daehan Gwaja-jeom brand in the future."
