Bucheon City and Osan City in Gyeonggi Province were selected as the best institutions for self-audit activities last year.
On the 31st, the province held the 'Province-City/County Audit Officials Workshop' at the Suwon Convention Center and awarded cities and counties with outstanding self-audit activity performance last year.
At the awards ceremony, the grand prize was awarded to Bucheon City and Osan City, the excellence prize to Anyang City and Guri City, and the encouragement prize to Pyeongtaek City and Yangju City, respectively.
Bucheon City actively promoted integrity policies by holding an Integrity Culture Concert, where the mayor personally presented the 'New Mokminsimseo' to newly appointed officials, and carried out proactive audit activities.
Osan City worked on system improvements by recommending revisions to ordinances and work manuals that did not reflect amendments to higher laws and regulations, and actively promoted policies to revitalize citizen auditors, such as the 'Citizen Auditor One-Day Po Cheong-cheon Activity.'
The province explained the revision of evaluation indicators, including the establishment of preventive audit indicators such as unreasonable system improvements and strengthening indicators for activating proactive administration, in line with the Audit 4.0 policy direction starting this year.
Lee Hee-wan, the province's Chief Audit Officer, said, "To achieve the goals of Audit 4.0, it is most important to cultivate audit personnel who will lead citizen-centered audit changes," and added, "To enhance the practical audit capabilities of audit staff, we introduced small-group in-depth lectures and discussion methods by division starting from this training."
He also added, "In the future, training for audit staff of the province, cities/counties, and public institutions will be conducted quarterly."
