Gyeongnam University Baseball Team Appoints Shin Kyung-hyun as New Head Coach and Park Myung-hwan as New Coach

Gyeongnam National University recently appointed former Hanwha Eagles coach Shin Kyung-hyun (47) as the new head coach of the baseball team, and former NC Dinos coach Park Myung-hwan (45) as the new assistant coach.

Founded in 1982, the year professional baseball began, by alumni joining forces, the Gyeongnam National University baseball team has grown by producing excellent baseball players, winning the championship trophy at the 70th National Sports Festival in 1989, and finishing as runner-up in the 2003 President's Cup National Baseball Championship.

The newly appointed head coach Shin and assistant coach Park will lead the Gyeongnam National University baseball team starting April 1, succeeding former head coach Gam Sa-yong.

Kim Jae-gu, Director of Student Affairs, said, "We are very pleased to invite two individuals who have left a significant mark on Korean baseball," and added, "We expect the Gyeongnam National University baseball team to rise to the top ranks nationwide under their guidance."

Head coach Shin joined the professional team Hanwha Eagles in 1998 and played as the starting catcher. Since 2014, he has served as a battery coach for the Hanwha Eagles' development squad, first team, and second team. He later gained coaching experience as a coach for Bukil High School baseball team and Hanil Jangsin University baseball team.

Assistant coach Park was a traditional right-handed pitcher who played for professional teams including OB-Doosan Bears in 1996, LG Twins in 2007, and NC Dinos in 2014, achieving a total of 103 professional wins. His coaching career includes roles as NC Dinos second team assistant pitching coach (2016) and Seongnam Flupanders pitching coach (2017).
