Recognition of Collective Efforts in On-Site Administration Through Neighborhood Walks
Gunnae-myeon in Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do was selected as an excellent institution in the 2022 Jeollanam-do On-site Administration Outstanding Eup/Myeon/Dong Evaluation.
According to the county on the 31st, the on-site administration evaluation was conducted targeting 297 eup/myeon/dong in Jeollanam-do to strengthen the role of eup/myeon/dong as the frontline administrative agencies and to discover and share outstanding cases of on-site administration.

The selection was made by receiving one excellent eup/myeon/dong recommendation per city/county and conducting a first round of document screening and a second round of case presentation evaluation.
Gunnae-myeon was recognized for its efforts to practice on-site administration together with residents by having public officials, residents' autonomy committee members, and police station staff visit 28 villages last year to promote ‘A Walk Around the Neighborhood Together’ and ‘Gardening My Home Garden.’
‘A Walk Around the Neighborhood Together’ included △COVID-19 prevention activities △discovery of welfare blind spots △improvement of living environment △facility safety inspections △crime prevention activities, which led to enhancing residents' convenience and improving residential conditions.
Additionally, ‘Gardening My Home Garden’ was conducted as part of a horticultural therapy program aimed at promoting the physical and emotional health of the elderly and creating a pleasant environment.
Kim Hee-su, the county governor, stated, “This result was achieved through the direct efforts and hard work of eup/myeon public officials on the front lines of administration. We will continue to practice administration with a humble attitude closer to the residents and strive even more to enhance convenience and improve living conditions.”
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do has been selecting and awarding ‘Outstanding Eup/Myeon/Dong in On-site Administration’ annually since 2016 to boost the morale of eup/myeon/dong promoting on-site administration and to share various outstanding cases of on-site administration, realizing the ‘Jeonnam Happiness Era’ that prioritizes residents.
