The 4·16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center will operate the "Yellow Ribbon Month" throughout April to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster.
The 4·16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center has designated April as the "Month of the Yellow Ribbon" and will operate a memorial period to mark the 9th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster.
On the 31st, the center announced that it decided to operate the "Month of the Yellow Ribbon" to honor the students and teachers who lost their lives in the 4·16 Sewol Ferry disaster and to ensure that the lessons of the tragedy are not forgotten.
The center will conduct ▲ a visit and flower offering at the Danwon High School Victims Memorial Park (April 14) ▲ a tour of the Danwon High School 4·16 Memory Classroom (April 15) ▲ a remembrance action event for the education community (April 16) ▲ and an exhibition of artworks titled "Free Travel" created by the victims' bereaved families.
Related organizations in the province will also participate in the memorial by wearing yellow ribbons, leaving tribute messages, sounding memorial sirens, and observing moments of silence. Schools in the province will promote classes using 4·16 educational materials, memorial and safety literary events, and the operation of the 4·16 Day of Memory and Empathy.
Jeon Myeong-seon, director of the 4·16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center, said, "Through the operation of the Month of the Yellow Ribbon, I hope that all members of the Gyeonggi education family will have an opportunity to mourn the victims of the Sewol Ferry disaster and reflect on the lessons of the tragedy."
