The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is aiming to reduce the expected amount of household waste by 10% this year.
On the 31st, Suwon announced that it has set a reduction target of 13,585 tons out of the expected 135,855 tons of household waste for this year.
To achieve this goal, the city will implement a household waste reduction plan under the vision of "Low-Carbon Resource Circulation Environmental Special City Suwon," along with three detailed action plans: ▲building resource circulation infrastructure ▲improving environmental awareness among citizens ▲and promoting sustainable cleaning administration.
In particular, the city will conduct sample inspections of household waste brought into resource recovery facilities targeting apartment complexes and waste-vulnerable areas within the city. Additionally, the city will evaluate the performance of policies aimed at reducing household waste in each district and neighborhood office, rewarding outstanding departments quarterly.
A city official stated, "Suwon is implementing various policies to reduce carbon emissions, making waste reduction essential," and added, "We will work together with citizens to establish a proper waste disposal culture and faithfully implement household waste reduction policies to achieve our goals."
