Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong District, conducted a safety inspection for the 2023 Bulkwangcheon Cherry Blossom Festival ‘Spring of Eunpyeong’ on the 30th.


She received a report on the overall festival preparations and checked the pre-event safety measures to prevent accidents, including maintaining order at the venue, preparing traffic measures, and verifying the safety of facilities.

‘Spring of Eunpyeong’ will take place along Bulkwangcheon from April 2 to 8 for seven days, featuring various cultural experience events such as a cherry blossom marathon and a VR drawing show.


During the event, there will be an Eunpyeong promotional booth, free bicycle maintenance busking, customized experience booths using Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, hands-on workshops like plaster air fresheners and woodworking, as well as performances by invited singers including Yoon Do-hyun Band, Park Sang-min, Davichi, 10cm, and various orchestra and classical music performances, offering a wide range of attractions and entertainment.


Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong District, stated, “We will do our best to ensure that residents and tourists visiting Bulkwangcheon can enjoy the festival safely and comfortably through thorough safety measures.”




Park Kang-su, Mapo District Mayor, Plants Trees with Residents: “Looking Forward to the Crape Myrtles Blooming on the Red Road in Midsummer”



Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, held a special tree planting event on the afternoon of the 30th in front of Sangsangmadang on Hongdae Red Road with about 300 residents and public officials.


The event was organized as an Arbor Day event to plant a total of 374 trees, including crape myrtles and azaleas, in 87 large flower pots that had been left unattended on the streets of Hongdae.

Mayor Park Kang-su said, “Just like the crape myrtle (Baekilhong) flowers that bloom passionately in midsummer, Hongdae Red Road will also be filled with passionate festivals and performances.” He added, “I thank everyone who participated in this meaningful and new Arbor Day tree planting, and I hope the trees planted today will take strong root and bring freshness to residents and tourists in the city.”


Meanwhile, around April, the district plans to beautifully transform the 87 flower pots planted on this day using oil painting wooden panels created by children from local daycare centers and elementary, middle, and high schools.

Seongbuk District (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) opened the National and Public Jeongneung Haetsal-gadeuk Daycare Center on the 29th.


At the opening ceremony, about 30 people including daycare parents and officials, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, and local council members attended to celebrate and support the first step from a private daycare center to a national and public daycare center.

The Jeongneung Haetsal-gadeuk Daycare Center, which had been operated as a daycare in the apartment management building, received approval from Seoul City last year for expansion as a national and public daycare center, signed a free lease agreement with the district, and began operating as a national and public daycare center this year.


Mayor Lee Seung-ro said in his opening remarks, “I thank the residents who united to improve the childcare environment for our children,” adding, “This achievement was made possible through the active cooperation of the apartment management representatives, residents, and parents.” He also stated, “As we are in a low birthrate period, Seongbuk District will continue to pay attention to childcare and care environments and strive to provide high-quality childcare services in the region.”


Meanwhile, Seongbuk District is actively promoting the ‘Green Remodeling Project’ targeting seven aging national and public daycare centers to create a safe childcare environment where parents can entrust their children with peace of mind.




Oh Seung-rok, Nowon District Mayor, Attends Groundbreaking Ceremony for Undergrounding High-Voltage Transmission Lines from Wolgye to Sanggye


Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the ‘Nowon District High-Voltage Transmission Line Undergrounding Project Groundbreaking Ceremony’ held at the Wolgye Station transfer parking lot in Nowon District at 4 p.m. on the 30th.


This project involves undergrounding a total of 4.1 km and 18 steel towers, including a 3.1 km first section from Sanggye Substation (near Nowon District Office) to Nowon Substation (near Deer 1 Complex Apartment in Wolgye-dong) and a 1.0 km second section from Sanggye Neighborhood Park to Sanggye Substation.

The construction, scheduled for completion in 2028, will be carried out as a deep tunnel-type approximately 50 meters underground. The total project cost is 90.8 billion KRW, with 50% funded by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and the remaining 50% equally shared by Seoul City and Nowon District.


The ceremony was held with the attendance of Mayor Oh Seung-rok, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and other guests, proceeding with an opening declaration, guest introductions, project report, congratulatory speeches, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.


Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Finally, the transmission lines will go underground for the first time in 40 years,” adding, “Nowon District will improve urban aesthetics through undergrounding and advance as a future city through the Changdong and Sanggye urban regeneration projects.”

Recipients Receive Benefits Such as Public Parking Fee Exemptions and Tax Audit Exemptions



Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) announced that it selected three individuals and two corporations as diligent local tax taxpayers for 2023 and awarded them commendation certificates.


The awardees received commendation certificates on the 29th in recognition of their faithful fulfillment of tax obligations and contributions to community development, with family and colleagues in attendance. The ‘Seoul City Meritorious Taxpayer’ commendations were also presented on the same day.


The diligent taxpayers selected this time are Seong Min-jung, Shin Hye-soon, and Jo Man-ho, and the corporations Segi Sangsa and Samseon Development. The ‘Seoul City Meritorious Taxpayers’ are Lee Han-seong, Jo Dong-gil, and Lee Kyung-soon, along with Daehan Tourism Development and TKG Huchems.

Diligent taxpayers are selected among individuals or corporations with addresses and business locations in the district who have had no arrears for the past three consecutive years and have paid three or more local taxes on time annually.


The Local Tax Deliberation Committee comprehensively reviews taxpayers who paid at least 10 million KRW for individuals and 50 million KRW for corporations in district taxes in 2022, considering their contributions to district development and the community, and selects five recipients.


‘Seoul City Meritorious Taxpayers’ are exemplary taxpayers who have made significant contributions to stable tax revenue management. They must have no arrears in the past 10 years and have paid two or more Seoul city local taxes on time annually for eight years.


Diligent taxpayers receive benefits such as exemption from public parking fees for one year, a 30% discount on performance fees at Chungmu Art Center, and exemption from local tax audits for three years. They also gain opportunities to participate in various events hosted by the district.


Meritorious taxpayers receive additional benefits including reduced loan interest rates, exemption from various fees and preferential exchange rates, medical expense discounts, improved credit ratings, and various bonus points.


Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, “I deeply thank the awardees who have set an example in fulfilling their tax obligations despite difficult economic conditions,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that the precious taxes paid for the development of Jung-gu and the provision of various public services are used appropriately.”
