Off-Duty Firefighter Extinguishes Field Fire with Vehicle Fire Extinguisher

Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station announced on the 30th that firefighter Seong Seohwi, who works at the Cheomdan 119 Safety Center, witnessed a fire occurring in a field on his day off and quickly extinguished the initial fire, preventing significant damage.

On the 28th, while returning from a local festival, Firefighter Seong witnessed a fire in a field in front of Angae Village on Gosan-ro, Godal-myeon, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, around 6 p.m.

Considering the wind strength at the time and the terrain surrounded by mountains nearby, he judged that if left unattended, the fire could spread into a forest fire. He immediately reported it to 119 and rushed in his own vehicle to use two vehicle fire extinguishers he had stored to quickly suppress the fire.

Firefighter Seong said, “Since this is a season when forest fires frequently occur, I believe initial suppression is crucial,” and added, “I will continue to do my best for the safety of citizens.”
