Issuance of Commemorative Stamp for South Korea's First Lunar Probe 'Danuri'

On Sale at Post Office Starting from the 7th of Next Month

The Ministry of Science and ICT's Korea Post announced on the 30th that it will issue 624,000 commemorative stamps on the 7th of next month to celebrate the successful launch of 'Danuri,' the first lunar orbiter in South Korea's history.

The commemorative stamps feature an image of Danuri, which successfully entered the lunar mission orbit, along with photos of the lunar surface and Earth taken directly by Danuri.

Through Danuri, South Korea became the seventh country in the world to explore the moon. Launched in August last year, Danuri traveled a total of 7.32 million kilometers over four months and reached the lunar mission orbit in December. Danuri will orbit the moon and carry out missions such as lunar scientific research and verification of space internet technology using its onboard instruments. In particular, the high-resolution images of the lunar surface taken by its camera are planned to be used for selecting candidate sites for the lunar lander mission scheduled for 2032.

The commemorative stamps can be purchased at nearby post offices or through the online post office.
