Chungnam, Urban Air Mobility Industry Development and Workforce Training Research Project

Chungnam Province is taking steps to develop strategic plans for the urban air mobility (UAM) industry and to establish measures for workforce training.

On the 30th, the province announced that it held a kickoff briefing for the "Urban Air Mobility Industry Development Strategy Task Discovery and Workforce Training Research Project" at the DSC (Daejeon·Sejong·Chungnam) Regional Innovation Platform General Operation Center the previous day.

The research project is being promoted as part of the regional innovation projects of the DSC Regional Innovation Platform. Through this research, the province plans to set goals and strategies for creating a UAM industry ecosystem and to prepare plans for establishing a demonstration and certification center.

The main tasks include six key areas: analysis of domestic and international UAM industry environments, investigation and analysis of Chungnam’s industrial conditions and environment, presentation of a specialized workforce training model and roadmap, derivation of strategic tasks for Chungnam’s UAM industry, and establishment of a mid- to long-term roadmap.

Starting with this research project, the province intends to foster the UAM industry as a new growth engine for Chungnam.

An official from the province stated, “The UAM industry is a promising sector expected to require 160,000 personnel by 2040. Based on the research results, the province will find the optimal measures for Chungnam to lead future mobility environmental changes.”

They added, “Workforce training related to the UAM industry will focus on discovering planning tasks to secure project funding by responding to government-led public contests.”
