Kim Jaewon "Sincerely Reflecting" Kim Kihyun "If Repeated, Will Not Hesitate"

Controversy Over Consecutive Far-Right Remarks
Kim Gi-hyeon: "Will Watch Closely to Prevent Recurrence"

Kim Jae-won, the Senior Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, publicly apologized on the 30th. In response to the controversy caused by his consecutive far-right remarks, Kim Ki-hyun, the leader of the People Power Party, issued a final warning, stating that if such remarks are repeated, he "will not hesitate to take action."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Senior Council Member Kim said, "I sincerely reflect on causing much concern to the public and placing a heavy burden on the party due to my recent remarks," adding, "I will be more cautious to ensure this does not happen again."

Seemingly aware of the sharp public criticism, Senior Council Member Kim was even seen praying before the meeting.

Senior Council Member Kim recently sparked controversy with remarks that bore far-right undertones. He made statements in public such as "Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon has unified the right-wing camp" and "The preamble of the Constitution should not include the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement."

Although he promptly apologized through his SNS after the controversy, some within the party expressed opinions that he should be reported to the Ethics Committee or even expelled.

After the meeting, when meeting with reporters, Senior Council Member Kim said, "If an apology is necessary, I will make it in various forms, but to avoid causing further controversy, I will speak as carefully as possible," and refrained from elaborating.

When asked if he intended to go to Gwangju to apologize in person, he replied, "I have not thought about it."

Leader Kim Ki-hyun also issued a warning to Senior Council Member Kim.

After the meeting that day, Leader Kim told reporters, "Despite various ups and downs, I agree that the intent of the remarks did not align with the public sentiment, and I will closely monitor to ensure such words are not repeated," emphasizing, "If they are repeated again, I will not hesitate to take further measures."
