Gyeonggi-do Fire Department Develops Customized Fire Prevention Measures for Seniors Aged 65 and Over Fire Suppression

Gyeonggi Fire Department is conducting a survey targeting elderly residents aged 65 and over in the Gyeonggi area to assess their current situation and, based on the results, establish customized fire prevention measures for vulnerable elderly households.

The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 30th that it will carry out a survey over two months, from April to May, targeting 300 vulnerable elderly households aged 65 and over residing in Gyeonggi-do.

The survey will be conducted by volunteer firefighters visiting households in person, responding to a questionnaire consisting of six items including the type of residence (detached house, apartment, non-residential building), household type (living alone, elderly couple), health status, and use of fire-related appliances.

The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will analyze the survey results to identify the frequency of accidents and correlations by fire type according to changes in the living environment of vulnerable elderly households, and use this information to develop tailored fire prevention measures for them.

Earlier, in March, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters conducted a fire safety awareness survey targeting 1,000 foreign workers in the province, and plans to use the results to promote foreigner safety education and fire prevention policies.

Chosunho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Due to the consecutive occurrence of fires in vulnerable elderly households, we decided to conduct this survey to establish customized measures," and emphasized, "We will take the lead in creating a Gyeonggi-do where vulnerable groups who need care receive considerate safety services and greater protection."
