Seventy percent of the 11th Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members saw an increase in their assets over six months, with the average assets exceeding 1.2 billion KRW.
According to the 2023 regular asset change disclosure list (as of December 31 of last year) released by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 30th, out of the total 156 Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members, 110 members (70.5%) reported an increase in their assets.
Their average assets amounted to 1.204 billion KRW, which is 34 million KRW more than the 1.17 billion KRW reported six months earlier (as of June 30 of last year).
Yeom Jong-hyun (Democratic Party·Bucheon 1), the chairman, reported an increase of 247 million KRW, totaling 1.07 billion KRW. He explained that the increase was due to changes in the value of apartments and other properties.
The assembly member with the highest assets is Kim Seong-su (People Power Party·Hanam 2), who reported 26.813 billion KRW. This includes land worth 13.947 billion KRW, buildings worth 15.08 billion KRW, and debts of 8.52 billion KRW. This is 326 million KRW less than six months ago.
Following him were Jo Hee-seon (People Power Party·Proportional Representation) with 8.338 billion KRW, Oh Jun-hwan (People Power Party·Goyang 9) with 7.237 billion KRW, Kang Woong-cheol (People Power Party·Yongin 8) with 5.224 billion KRW, and Kim Jong-bae (Democratic Party·Siheung 4) with 5.034 billion KRW.
Including them, a total of 18 assembly members reported assets exceeding 2 billion KRW. Assembly member Lee Ki-in (People Power Party·Seongnam 6) reported the lowest assets with a negative 110 million KRW. Kim Mi-jung (Democratic Party·Osan 1) also reported negative 95 million KRW.
