Wine specialist importer Shindong Wine announced that it will exclusively launch seven wines from the Spanish Familia Torres and French Famille Perrin wineries, both members of the prestigious global wine association PFV (Premium Familiae Vini), through convenience store CU for the first time in the convenience store channel.
The seven wines include the representative products of each winery: from Spain’s Torres ▲Gran Coronas, Gran Coronas Special Edition (Red/Gold) ▲Sangre de Toro ▲Mas La Plana Red, and from Famille Perrin ▲La Vieille Ferme ▲Rouge ▲Blanc, sold as a package with a free opener.
The PFV (Premium Familiae Vini), a prestigious wine association, was established in 1992 and is known as the top wine association with strict membership qualifications.
In addition to Familia Torres (Spain, established 1870) and Famille Perrin (France, established 1909), which are introduced through CU, other world-renowned wineries such as Famille Hugel (France, established 1639), Baron Philippe de Rothschild (France, established 1853), and Domaine Clarence Dillon (France, established 1935) are also members.
Spain’s renowned winery Familia Torres, founded in 1870, has greatly contributed to improving the quality of Spanish wines, which were undervalued compared to those from France and Italy, and promoting them worldwide. In 1979, at the Paris Wine Olympiad hosted by the French gourmet media Gault Millau, Torres’ Mas La Plana 1970 vintage (then called Gran Coronas) won the blind tasting, beating prestigious Bordeaux ch?teaux, earning the nickname “The Black Legend of Spain.”
The Perrin family, owners of Ch?teau de Beaucastel, the oldest winery in the southern Rh?ne region of France, has been running the winery as a family business for over 100 years. The fourth-generation brothers, Jean-Pierre Perrin and Fran?ois Perrin, recognized as producers of some of the finest Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape, were named “Man of the Year 2014” by Decanter, and their Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape was also listed among Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines in 2013.
The Perrin family represents southern Rh?ne with wines that combine traditional grape varieties, modern winemaking techniques, and organic cultivation. They pioneered organic farming in the 1950s and adopted biodynamic farming in the 1970s, producing all 13 grape varieties permitted in Ch?teauneuf-du-Pape strictly using organic methods.
La Vieille Ferme, created by applying the Perrin family’s winemaking methods and know-how to make wines accessible to the public, has been loved for over 50 years since 1967 and has been consistently selected as an in-flight wine by airlines such as Air France, China Eastern Airlines, Emirates, Lufthansa, and Asiana Airlines.
An official stated, “The theme of this prestigious wine event holds great significance as it marks the collaboration between convenience store CU, which is knowledgeable about wine, and the renowned wine importer Shindong Wine. We plan to continue hosting high-quality events through such collaborations in the future.”
