A Man in His 40s Arrested for Attempting to Sexually Assault a Drunken Sleeping Female Church Member

A man in his 40s was arrested after attempting to sexually assault and assault a fellow church member who fell asleep drunk.

According to the Gwangju Nambu Police Station, on the 29th, they announced that A (43) was arrested on charges of quasi-rape and injury.

A is accused of touching the body of female church member B and punching her in the face at his home in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around 4 p.m. on the 26th.

At the time of the crime, A had become close to B at the church he had been attending since his release in January. While drinking together, when B fell asleep, A attempted to sexually assault her, and when she resisted, he punched her in the face.

A reportedly admitted to touching some parts of her body but denied other charges.

The police judged that A posed a flight risk, applied for an arrest warrant, which was granted, and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
