"Payment OK Like Samsung Pay with Naver Pay at 3 Million Franchise Stores"

Naver Pay Introduces Samsung Pay-Style Payment
Expansion of Use Offline... Linked Point Benefits
Naver Pay and Samsung Pay 'Joint Attack'... Increased Online and Offline Dominance

Naver Pay is teaming up with Samsung Pay to launch a large-scale offline campaign. The convenient payment method of Samsung Pay can now also be used with Naver Pay, and various point benefits will be linked as well. This marks the beginning of a joint offensive by domestic online and offline simple payment leaders in response to the launch of Apple Pay, the contactless simple payment service by the US company Apple.

Naver Financial announced on the 29th that it will start offering Samsung Pay payment services based on Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) within the Naver Pay application (app). This means that payments can be made with Naver Pay just like Samsung Pay at existing card terminals already installed at about 3 million offline merchants.

To use the service, select the ‘Samsung Pay’ tab at the top of the payment area in the latest version of the Naver Pay app. Then, choose the credit or debit card registered for Naver Pay QR on-site payment that you want to use for the payment. After that, simply hold your smartphone over the card swipe area of the MST terminal, just like with Samsung Pay, to complete the payment. The same method can be used for payments at kiosks.

A Samsung Pay payment widget through the Naver Pay app is also provided, enabling payment with just one touch. By the first half of the year, Samsung Pay will also be linked to Naver Pay on-site payments made through the Naver app.

Various point benefits previously offered by Naver Pay will continue as before. The ‘double point draw’ benefit given when using Naver Pay on-site payment will apply to all offline merchants where Samsung Pay is available. For each Samsung Pay payment made through the Naver Pay app (up to 30 times per month), two point draws will be provided. Each draw randomly awards a minimum of 10,000 to 20,000 KRW (less than the payment amount).

The maximum 4x point accumulation benefit for members of Naver Plus Membership, Naver Pay Money Hana Account, and Mirae Asset Securities CMA-RP Naver Account subscribers will also apply. Additionally, these points are provided separately from the card’s own rewards and benefits used for the payment. However, merchant-specific promotions and automatic membership point accumulation provided during existing QR on-site payments will not apply.

Special promotional events offering additional benefits will also be held. Until the 30th of next month, when making an on-site payment of 2,000 KRW or more with Samsung Pay via the Naver Pay app, 2,000 Naver Pay points will be instantly awarded (one time per person). Furthermore, after using Samsung Pay for on-site payments, a ‘point rolling’ event will grant an additional accumulation equal to the total random points drawn that day. Every day, 100 randomly selected users will receive 100 times the random points (once per date, with a maximum additional accumulation of 50,000 points through point rolling).

A Naver Financial official said, "Now, beyond online, we can provide Naver Pay’s benefits and payment experience anywhere offline where card payments are accepted," adding, "We will continue to expand services so that Naver Pay users can conveniently enjoy various benefits at more payment locations."
