Netmarble announced on the 29th that it held the 12th regular general meeting of shareholders at the new headquarters G-Tower Convention Hall located in Guro-gu, Seoul.
At the shareholders' meeting, Netmarble reported last year's key management performance, including consolidated financial statements showing sales of 2.6734 trillion KRW, an operating loss of 108.7 billion KRW, and a net loss of 886.3 billion KRW.
Chairman Bang Jun-hyuk, whose term had expired, was reappointed as an inside director, and to strengthen the board of directors, co-CEOs Kwon Young-sik and Do Ki-wook were newly appointed as inside directors. Previously, Chairman Bang Jun-hyuk was the only inside director at Netmarble, but with these new appointments, the number of inside directors has increased to a total of three.
In addition, Professor Yoon Dae-kyun of the Software Department at Ajou University, Professor Lee Dong-heon of the Global Business College at Korea University Sejong Campus, and Hwang Deuk-soo, Head of Management Support at CJ ENM Entertainment Division, were newly appointed as outside directors and audit committee members, transitioning the board to a total of nine members.
A Netmarble official explained, "Considering the characteristics of the gaming industry, we have promoted a governance restructuring to expand the role of the board of directors for faster decision-making."
Netmarble CEO Kwon Young-sik said in his greeting at the shareholders' meeting, "This year, we expect gradual improvement in performance through the release of new titles across various genres based on our own intellectual property (IP), as well as multi-platform new releases covering PC and consoles, moving beyond the existing mobile-centered strategy. With many games receiving Chinese publishing licenses, we anticipate meaningful sales in the Chinese market and will do our best to improve performance."
At the shareholders' meeting, all five agenda items were approved, including the approval of the 12th financial statements, partial amendments to the articles of incorporation, appointment of directors, appointment of audit committee members, and approval of the limit on directors' remuneration.
