Namhai-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 29th that the ‘Samdong-myeon Galhyeon District’ was finally selected in the ‘2023 Rural and Fishing Village Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project’ contest hosted by the National Balanced Development Committee. With this selection, a total project budget of 1.9 billion KRW, including 1.3 billion KRW in national funds, has been secured.
The 'Samdong-myeon Galhyeon District' was finally selected in the contest for the 'Improvement Project of Living Conditions in Rural and Fishing Villages in Namhae, Gyeongnam.'
Namhai-gun has continuously participated in the vulnerable area improvement project contests, carrying out projects in five existing districts: one site in 2019 (Pyeongsan 2 Village), one site in 2020 (Umul Village), two sites in 2021 (Nogu Village, Okcheon Village), and one site in 2022 (Namsang Village).
With the project funds secured from the ‘2023 Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project,’ Namhai-gun plans to expand living infrastructure such as safety and sanitation and improve the residential environment in Galhyeon Village.
Additionally, various projects will be implemented to guarantee a basic standard of living through support such as strengthening resident capabilities.
In particular, Samdong-myeon Galhyeon Village, selected for the ‘Rural and Fishing Village Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project,’ reflected the project vision of “Galhyeon Village where residents can live safely 365 days a year without worries about farming or accidents” in its project plan, expressing the determination to make the village a better place for residents’ lives.
Lee Chaehyun, Director of the Economic Division, said, “We will promptly establish the plan for the Galhyeon Village project and start the actual construction on time so that local residents can feel the effects of the project.”
After establishing the basic project plan, Namhai-gun will gradually promote hardware projects such as river safety reinforcement, road safety assurance, fire safety assurance, slate roof improvement, and traditional toilet maintenance, as well as software projects such as resident health classes and resident leader education until 2026.
