Hyundai Kefico announced on the 29th that it will participate in the ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show’ held at Ilsan KINTEX from the 31st, unveiling its independently developed ultra-fast EV charger products and charging technologies.
The Seoul Mobility Show is the largest mobility industry exhibition in Korea. This year, more than 160 companies and organizations from 10 countries worldwide will participate in hardware, software, and service sectors. Hyundai Kefico will showcase chargers, power banks which are power conversion devices, and three core components.
Hyundai Kefico’s EV charger consists of a charging post that manages vehicle charging connection and communication, user billing processing, and charging amount monitoring, a power bank that converts AC/DC, and a maintenance control service. Based on over 30 years of accumulated powertrain system engineering capabilities, the company independently developed three core components: power modules, PLC communication controllers, and charging cables. At this mobility show, visitors will be able to directly experience the charging cable management system.
There is also product design considering safety and eco-friendliness. Safety is ensured by separating the high-voltage and low-voltage sections of the charging post to reduce fire risk. Additionally, the power module components are designed separately for AC/DC and DC/DC with the goal of achieving the highest reliability and durability, improving cooling performance and maintenance convenience. Detailed component verification standards have also been established to ensure performance. The maintenance control program was independently developed to provide a CS response system offering fault repair and preventive maintenance solutions.
A Hyundai Kefico official said, “We expect Hyundai Kefico’s EV charger to resolve the chronic issues in the existing charging market, such as power module durability problems and customer complaints about A/S. Depending on customer needs, it is possible to build various charging systems up to 360kW.”
Hyundai Kefico is discovering business models targeting charging business operators and corporations owning electric vehicles. It is also reviewing linkage with Hyundai Capital’s charger leasing business (corporate-targeted products). Furthermore, it plans to enter the market by establishing a charging ecosystem collaboration structure with Hyundai Motor Group companies such as Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Engineering.
