[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence photo] KF-21 Weaponry Test is

South Korea's domestically produced supersonic fighter jet KF-21 ‘Boramae’ successfully conducted tests of detaching armaments from the aircraft during flight and firing its cannon.

The tests were conducted for the first time to verify safety by checking changes in the aircraft structure, engine, and aerodynamic characteristics that may occur when detaching armaments or firing the cannon from the fighter jet, and to confirm whether the avionics systems related to weapon operation function properly.

The KF-21 prototype No. 2 performed the armament separation test using a medium-range air-to-air missile (Meteor) test round. Prototype No. 3 fired about 100 rounds from its airborne cannon and returned safely.

Going forward, the KF-21 will conduct tests on short-range and medium-range air-to-air missiles and its cannon across all flight regimes including low altitude, high altitude, low speed, and supersonic speeds to continue verifying weapon stability and performance.
