Request for Investigation into Violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act
Kim Seong, the governor of Jangheung County in Jeonnam, is under police investigation after a local resident reported him for sending out a large number of wedding invitations that included his bank account number ahead of his eldest son's wedding.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency on the 28th, they received the complaint related to Governor Kim and assigned the case to the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit 1.

The Jangheung resident who filed the complaint alleged that there were circumstances where congratulatory money exceeding the legal limit of 50,000 won was received, and requested the police to investigate whether Governor Kim violated the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, commonly known as the "Kim Young-ran Act."
On the 19th, ahead of his eldest son's wedding held in Seoul, Governor Kim sent mobile wedding invitations to about 1,000 residents and card-style invitations to around 300 acquaintances.
The paper invitations reportedly included his own bank account number, while the mobile invitations contained the bank account numbers of the groom, bride, and both families' heads.
Some residents expressed discomfort and dissatisfaction, feeling burdened by receiving invitations from the governor, who holds significant influence in the local community.
Previously, Governor Kim was indicted on charges of providing lunch worth approximately 280,000 won to 16 members of the Jangheung County Council Association, a group of current and former county council members, at a restaurant in Jangheung County, Jeonnam, on September 30 of last year.
