Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution’ in the 2022 Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill evaluation and received an award for excellence and a ministerial award for public officials who contributed to the drill from Gyeongsangnam-do.
The Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill has been conducted since 2005 to protect citizens' lives and property by enhancing disaster response capabilities and the on-site response capacity of related organizations and groups in preparation for large-scale disasters such as earthquakes and fires.
The 2022 Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill was a large-scale disaster response drill conducted last November under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, including public behavior guideline education, fire and earthquake evacuation drills at the city hall, and large-scale fire response drills at multi-use facilities.
The on-site drill comprehensively checked the cooperation system among related organizations by utilizing the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) for rapid situation sharing.
Jinju City received a good evaluation by conducting a flawless drill through thorough preparation led by the head of the institution and cooperation with related organizations.
Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “Jinju City being selected as an excellent institution in this evaluation is the result of 13 collaborative departments, related organizations, and participating groups all working together to conduct a realistic drill,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to cultivate crisis response capabilities in the event of disasters so that all citizens can live happily and safely in Jinju.”
