Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a ‘Dongdaemun-gu Ambassador Appointment Ceremony’ at 3 p.m. on the 28th to promote the newly transforming Dongdaemun-gu and enhance the district’s brand image, appointing actor Lee Dong-jun as an ambassador.

With this, a total of five ambassadors will be active for Dongdaemun-gu: magician Leo, actors Yoo Dong-geun and Lee Jang-woo, singer Noh Ji-hoon, who were appointed on the 17th, and newly appointed actor Lee Dong-jun.

Lee Dong-jun, a former national Taekwondo representative, was a star in the Taekwondo world, winning gold medals in the middleweight category at two consecutive World Championships in 1983 and 1985. He has been active as an actor since 1986, starting with the film ‘Woman Called Fire.’

Recently gaining attention through his appearance on SBS variety show ‘My Ugly Duckling,’ Lee Dong-jun has also been active in various entertainment programs such as SBS’s ‘Take Off Your Shoes, Divorce Man’ and MBN’s ‘Men and Women with Different Interpretations.’ He also attracted attention by appearing on several programs with his son Il-min, who participated in TV Chosun’s variety show ‘Mr. Trot 2.’

The five ambassadors, including the newly appointed Lee Dong-jun, will actively promote Dongdaemun-gu in various ways by participating in festivals and events over the next two years.

The Gangbuk-gu legal advisory group consists of a total of 10 members. Their term is two years, during which they provide legal advice and consultation on legal matters related to the district or the mayor and affiliated institutions, as well as handle litigation cases.

This legal advisor completed the 36th Judicial Research and Training Institute, currently serves as a cloud security certification committee member at the Korea Internet & Security Agency, and has served as a public ethics secretary and senior administrative officer at the Presidential Secretariat, a rehabilitation commissioner at the Seoul Central District Court, and a legal advisor for the Ministry of Justice’s Small and Medium Enterprise Legal Support Group.

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is promoting the ‘Gwanak-type Single-Person Household Support Project’ to create a happy Gwanak that accompanies single-person households.

The district conducted a public contest in February for non-profit organizations and social welfare corporations within the district to discover and promote projects reflecting the regional characteristics of single-person households, selecting four support projects.

The selected projects are ▲‘Hello Project’ ▲Single-person household support project for residents of goshiwon (small lodging houses) ‘Sseurigo (3go)’ ▲Cheongnyong cooking ‘Dorri’ ▲and ‘Happy Companion,’ which will be implemented in cooperation with four selected social welfare centers.

The ‘Hello Project’ is a project that helps improve the living environment and supports self-reliance for single-person households in the Daehak-dong and Samseong-dong areas. It provides wallpapering and flooring certification training for single-person households seeking employment, assists with home repairs for housing-vulnerable households alongside experts, and creates a local community that cares for each other centered on living spaces.

The ‘Sseurigo (3go)’ project supports single-person households living in goshiwon in the Haengun-dong area in three areas: health, mind (psychology), and relationships (communication). It helps form healthy social networks for single-person households through health checkups for disease prevention, health small groups such as hiking, group psychological counseling to share concerns, welfare center welcome events, and achieving bucket lists.

The meal kit (ready-to-eat meal) sharing project also draws attention. The Cheongnyong cooking ‘Dorri’ project gathers single-person households living in Cheongnyong-dong to prepare meal kits, which are delivered to single-person households who have difficulty preparing meals or are at risk of isolation, helping to maintain their nutrition and encouraging outdoor activities to alleviate social isolation.

Additionally, the ‘Happy Companion’ project is promoted for single-person households with disabilities. It provides residential convenience support such as installing safety bars at home, physical health support like Pilates classes, and leisure activities through neighborhood small groups such as calligraphy and gardening. In particular, it matches local residents with disabled single-person households to assist with hospital visits and activates a neighborly culture.

A district official said, “We will do our best to create a happy Gwanak that accompanies single-person households through the ‘Gwanak-type Single-Person Household Support Project,’ which reflects the needs and regional characteristics of single-person households and involves public-private cooperation.”

‘Life Mentoring’ by Talent in Arts and Sports and Specialized Financial Planning Counseling ‘Specialized Mentoring’ Also Conducted

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will start the ‘Single-Person Household Counseling Mentoring’ program from April, which pairs single-person households experiencing psychological difficulties such as isolation and depression with psychological counseling experts as mentors and mentees to provide support.

Single-person households registered in Dongdaemun-gu are given priority, but any single-person household residing in Seoul can participate. Mentors are experienced professionals majoring in counseling and psychology, with one mentor forming a team with three mentees.

The mentoring includes ▲‘Professional Mentoring,’ where a professional mentor provides one-on-one psychological and emotional support; ▲‘Life Mentoring,’ which is organized by talents and specialties such as arts, sports, and reading; and ▲‘Specialized Mentoring,’ focusing on financial planning counseling for single-person households.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We will support various counseling programs so that single-person households experiencing psychological and emotional difficulties can actively participate as healthy members of society.”
