24 Participants Completed the First Course of 2023
On the 26th, Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-su) held the '2023 1st Lifeguard Training Course Completion Ceremony' at the Water Leisure Center.
Organized by the Pukyong National University Sports Promotion Institute (Director Kim Young-hoon), this training course was conducted over 8 days between March 4 and 26, with a total of 24 participants completing the program.
The lifeguard qualification system grants certification to individuals who possess professional skills to rescue people in distress in water. To become a lifeguard, one must complete the training course at a designated institution or organization and pass the national qualification exam administered by the Korea Coast Guard.
Pukyong National University was designated as a lifeguard training institution last year by meeting standards including key facilities such as the swimming pool and diving pool at the Water Leisure Center, as well as emergency treatment and lifeguard-related equipment and instructors.
The Pukyong National University Sports Promotion Institute expects that starting with this training, it will contribute to creating a safe water activity environment for community safety and citizen welfare, expand educational opportunities for students, and promote employment and entrepreneurship related to water leisure safety.
