Doosan Group announced on the 28th that it has opened the history museum "Doosan Heritage 1896," which encompasses 127 years of history, at Doosan Tower in Bundang, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
The opening ceremony held that day was attended by Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won, Vice Chairman Park Ji-won, Doosan Group executives, and new employees. Chairman Park said, "This place is not only a space to commemorate Doosan's unique history but also a space where one can view the history of modern and contemporary Korean corporate history and industrial development."

Doosan Heritage 1896 offers a glimpse into the early days of the company through various historical materials from the time when Doosan founder Park Seung-jik established the 'Park Seung-jik Store' in 1896 in Baeogae (Jongno 4-ga), Jongno. The Park Seung-jik Store was primarily a fabric store dealing in cloths such as Bena and cotton muslin at the time.
The Park Seung-jik Store reorganized into a joint-stock company in the 1920s by increasing its capital, with the price per share at 50 won and 1,200 shares issued. The history museum exhibits historical materials such as paper stock certificates issued at that time, company signboards, employee rosters, bankbooks, and tax receipts.
Photos also reveal the "Joseon Sangmin Bongdo Dan," an organization formed by merchants during the deaths of King Gojong and King Sunjong in the late Joseon period. Park Seung-jik, the founder of Doosan who led the Gyeongseong Fabric Merchants' Association at the time, formed the Sangmin Bongdo Dan and served as its leader to carry the royal bier when King Gojong passed away.
In particular, various products that Doosan has sold over the years, including food and beverages, daily necessities, and clothing, are displayed to observe the consumption trends of the people at the time. Additionally, visitors can see the championship rings, trophies, and various memorabilia of the Doosan Bears, who started as founding members in the inaugural year of professional baseball in 1982 and have won six championships.
The exhibition hall includes a special exhibition room that houses records related to Doosan's first chairman, Yeongang Park Du-byeong. Chairman Park Du-byeong developed Doosan into a modern company and served as chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Asian Chambers of Commerce and Industry for many years, contributing to the development of Korea's commerce and industry.
