Procession of the King's Tea 'Noewoncha' on the 30th
Boseong County and the Boseong World Tea Expo Organizing Committee announced that they will hold the ‘Boom-up Festa’ event for the D-30 pre-promotion of the ‘2023 11th Boseong World Tea Expo’ at Gyeonghuigung Palace.
This Boom-up Festa will take place on the 30th at Gyeonghuigung Palace in Seoul, featuring a procession presenting Boseong tea to the king and a performance reenacting the presentation ceremony of Neowon tea, a royal tribute tea from the Goryeo Dynasty.
Boseong County organized this event to attract widespread interest and participation in the ‘2023 11th Boseong World Tea Expo,’ which opens on April 29.
About 200 people are expected to attend the event, including Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, Son Hak-rae, former president of Korea Expressway Corporation and co-chairman, as well as members of the Jaegyeong Hyangwoo Association, social organizations, and tea groups.
The event offers various attractions, starting with the Boseong tea presentation procession, the presentation of Boseong Neowon tea, which was a royal tribute during the Goryeo Dynasty, the appointment ceremony of promotional ambassadors, and tea sharing activities.
Idol groups MustB (a five-member male group) and Signature (a seven-member female group), along with Seoul Nowon District Councilor Son Young-jun and Seoul Seongbuk District Councilor So Hyung-jun, were appointed as promotional ambassadors for Boseong County to attract the attention of residents in the metropolitan area and intensify the expo’s promotional atmosphere.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County and co-chairman, said, “As the D-30 event for the expo opening, it is very meaningful to hold a reenactment ceremony presenting tea to the king at Gyeonghuigung, one of Joseon’s five grand palaces. We will do our best to ensure the successful hosting of the expo so that the thousand-year-old Boseong tea embraces the world and moves toward the future.”
Meanwhile, the Boseong World Tea Expo will be held for nine days from April 29 to May 7 at the Korea Tea Culture Park, featuring an integrated festival format with various simultaneous festivals such as the Boseong Tea Fragrance Festival, Seopyeonje Boseong Sound Festival, Fireworks Festival, Illimsan Azalea Festival, Beolgyo Mudflat Leisure Boat Competition, national-level sports competitions, and Boseong Citizens’ Day.
The 11th Boseong World Tea Expo is expected to be the best festival this spring, offering diverse exhibitions including a themed hall with unique docents, a world tea culture exhibition hall with participation from six countries, a tea art hall, a world tea road hall, and a 2,000-year-old East Asian tea culture relic exhibition hall, as well as special events such as the World Tea Performance, Tea Food Show, and Tea Cocktail Gala Show, along with various experiential programs.
