[One Day Walk] Cherry Blossoms, Play, and Exercise All in One... A Tour Around Children's Grand Park

Seoul Children's Grand Park, located in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, is a family-themed park for children featuring a zoo, botanical garden, amusement park, various performance venues, and interactive spaces within a vast area of approximately 530,000㎡. Opened on May 5, 1973 (the 51st Children's Day), it serves as an urban sanctuary offering a variety of experiential programs for children and families, such as Animal School and Ecological Exploration Classes, which run year-round. The park is open to everyone without an admission fee. It is broadly divided into Animal Land, Nature Land, and Fun Land. The amusement park, a representative area of the Children's Grand Park, is perfect for families to enjoy together. It offers 13 different rides including the Family Coaster, Drop Tower, Bumper Cars, Super Viking, Carousel, and Danogi Train, making it a great place to create joyful memories with young children.

The Animal Land Zoo houses about 640 animals across 90 species. Visitors can encounter a variety of animals in areas such as Little Animal Village, Monkey Village, Elephant House, Predator Village, Herbivore Village, and Waterfowl Enclosure. The Nature Land Botanical Garden exhibits 286 species of greenhouse plants and 66 species of wildflowers. Visitors can view succulent plants, foliage plants, bonsai, and wildflowers in that order. There are also various facilities including Imagination Land, a complex experiential play area centered on children.

This location is also one of Seoul’s representative cherry blossom spots. Every year around April 10, about 1,100 king cherry trees, approximately 50 years old, welcome visitors. The area from the main gate’s musical fountain to the rear gate fountain and the lawn around Guui Gate are the best spots for cherry blossom viewing. The cherry blossom blooming period has been gradually advancing each year and is expected to reach its peak throughout this week. Popular cherry blossom viewing spots in the Grand Park include the path beside the fountain and the route from the main gate to the zoo. The white magnolia and purple magnolia flowers in front of the botanical garden bloom beautifully alongside the cherry blossoms. Other sights include the Japanese quince flowers in front of the open-air theater and the cherry laurel flowers in front of the Marine Animal House.
