Changwon Fire Headquarters, "Will Prevent Forest Fires During Cheongmyeong and Hansik Periods"

All Hands Mobilized Including Firefighters and Volunteer Fire Brigade Members

The Changwon Fire Headquarters in Gyeongnam will take special wildfire fire watch measures during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods, when the sky gradually clears, to reduce the risk of fire occurrence.


The Fire Headquarters will mobilize a total of 1,043 firefighters and 1,735 volunteer firefighters from 6 p.m. on April 4 to 9 a.m. on April 7 to strengthen the alert posture.


According to the Changwon Fire Headquarters, 30 fires occurred in Changwon City during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods over the past five years, causing property damage of about 78 million won, with no casualties.

By fire location, 9 cases occurred outdoors and in forest areas, followed by automobiles and detached houses. By cause, negligence was the most common, followed by mechanical and electrical causes.


The Fire Headquarters will prepare for emergencies centered on fire station chiefs to protect the safety of Changwon citizens during the Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods, maintain an emergency contact network to sustain firefighting response posture, and strengthen cooperation systems with related organizations to prepare for disasters.


Additionally, they will carry out promotional activities such as strengthening patrols in fire-prone areas to prevent wildfires and conducting campaigns on major hiking trails.


Kim Yong-jin, head of the Changwon Fire Headquarters, said, “The Cheongmyeong and Hansik periods can particularly increase the risk of fire due to dry weather,” adding, “The Fire Headquarters will focus on prevention and vigilance to do its best to protect citizens’ property and lives from fire.”
