Daejeon City Selected for 'Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project'

Daejeon City has been selected for the Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project.

On the 28th, the city announced that it was finally selected in the Ministry of Environment’s “2023 Regional Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project Contest” and secured 3.2 billion KRW in national funding.

According to the selection results, the city, together with Daeyeong Chaebi Co., Ltd., a collaborative business partner in the contest, will invest a total of 7.8 billion KRW (national funds and private funds) to install 125 fast chargers at 64 locations, including Daejeon World Cup Stadium.

The Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project aims to focus on the widespread distribution of electric vehicle charging facilities by linking regional characteristics.

The city conducted a facility demand survey, selected Daeyeong Chaebi as a collaborative business partner, and participated in the contest.

The facilities participating in the project are scheduled to complete the installation of fast chargers within this year, and the charging facilities established will be mandatorily operated and managed for five years by Daeyeong Chaebi, the collaborative business partner.

The city expects that this project will expand charging facilities without additional financial burden.

Currently, separate from this project, the city is simultaneously promoting the installation support project for private fast chargers targeting multi-use facilities, and the installation support project for slow chargers targeting public facilities and apartment complexes, to expand the electric vehicle charging infrastructure within the region.

Baek Gye-gyeong, head of the Fine Dust Response Division of the city, said, “Being selected for the Ministry of Environment’s contest project will contribute to expanding the charger infrastructure in the Daejeon area,” and added, “The city will continue to expand related facilities to improve charging convenience for citizens using electric vehicles.”
