Experience the Value of the 2030 Busan World Expo 'Solution Platform'
Promotion Domestically and Internationally through Influencers, SNS, and Overseas Supp
Busan City will actively promote the ‘Wave (thewave.net)’ platform, which was launched on the 17th.
Wave is a platform carefully created by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry to showcase in advance the values aimed for by the 2030 Busan World Expo, which South Korea’s Busan is bidding to host.
On this platform, people around the world can participate and communicate online about various problems humanity faces, and furthermore, propose advanced solutions through creative ideas and new technologies, seeking clues to solve these issues together.
The World Expo as a ‘solution platform’ to find solutions to problems humanity faces, such as the climate crisis, is one of the differentiation strategies of the 2030 Busan World Expo.
The launch of the Wave platform can also be seen as a practical effort of the Busan Initiative, an international cooperation project that proposes and promotes projects to solve various problems faced by countries, embodying the values of the 2030 Busan World Expo.
The city plans to actively activate this platform, which allows people to experience in advance the values the 2030 Busan World Expo wants to show, and to inform the world that Busan is the most suitable and prepared city to host the 2030 World Expo.
First, in collaboration with local governments nationwide, the platform will be expanded to related experts, NGOs, and companies to enable many people to use it. Collaborations with influencers and opinion leaders will promote Wave, and events will be held on YouTube and social networking services to encourage widespread interest and participation.
Using foreign supporters of the 2030 Busan World Expo, the city will also actively promote overseas publicity through global social networking services (SNS).
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “‘Wave’ contains the justification for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo and Busan’s vision for the world.” He added, “We will do our best to activate Wave, which is ‘another World Expo held online,’ so that people worldwide can experience in advance the differentiated strategies unique to the 2030 Busan World Expo.”
Participation in Wave is simple. By accessing the website (https://thewave.net) and clicking ‘Participate in WAVE,’ users first select the scope (global, national, regional) and topic of social issues they are interested in.
Topics can be chosen from 10 keywords including environment, climate change, eco-friendly energy, education, medical and hygiene, disabled and children, simultaneous and social infrastructure, technological innovation, poverty, and hunger. Participants can freely describe their opinions or thoughts in ‘each country’s language.’
Proposals from others can be viewed through ‘Browse WAVE’ in the WAVE list. Currently, dozens of proposals on various topics have already been posted, with active communication through comments and replies.
The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also been actively operating an official social media account (Instagram) (@the.future.wave) since February to encourage interest and participation.
