Sancheong-gun Opens Rural Workforce Brokerage Center... A Blessing for Farms

Job Placement and Recruitment Mediation to Alleviate Labor Shortage

Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam is making every effort to resolve the rural labor shortage by establishing a Rural Labor Brokerage Center.

The county announced on the 28th that it held the 'Sancheong-gun Rural Labor Brokerage Center Opening Ceremony' at the NH Nonghyup Bank Sancheong-gun Branch (hereinafter referred to as Nonghyup Sancheong-gun Branch).

The opening ceremony was attended by about 20 officials, including County Governor Lee Seunghwa, County Council Chairman Jeong Myeongsun, county council members, Jo Joohyeong, head of Nonghyup Sancheong-gun Branch, and Jo Changho, chairman of Sancheong-gun Nonghyup Cooperative.

The Sancheong-gun Rural Labor Brokerage Center located within the Nonghyup Sancheong-gun Branch was established as part of a project announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, with a project cost of about 120 million won.

It was prepared to alleviate the labor shortage of farms struggling with labor supply and demand due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, aging rural areas, and a decrease in rural labor.

The newly opened Sancheong-gun Rural Labor Brokerage Center is operated by the Nonghyup Sancheong-gun Branch and mediates and arranges employment through mutual consultation between farms and job seekers regarding wages and working conditions.

In addition, it supports group accident insurance, transportation expenses, and team leader allowances for farm workers, while the labor costs must be borne by the farms.

Farms in need of rural labor and job seekers wishing to participate in farm work can apply at the Sancheong-gun Rural Labor Brokerage Center or the agricultural labor brokerage platform.

Sancheong-gun expects to play a vital role like timely rain for local farms by connecting farms struggling to secure labor with job seekers willing to work.

Governor Lee said, “The Sancheong-gun Rural Labor Brokerage Center will contribute to the stable creation of jobs in the region,” and added, “We will continue to provide administrative support, including expanding the introduction of foreign seasonal workers, to resolve the rural labor shortage issue.”
