The Gyeongnam School Irregular Workers Solidarity Meeting announced a total strike on the 31st, urging the resolution of wage negotiations at the entrance of the Gyeongnam Office of Education on the 27th.
The Solidarity held a press conference and stated, "The Ministry of Education and 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education have been conducting collective wage negotiations since the opening ceremony on September 14 last year, but have not yet reached an agreement."
"Despite concerns over soaring prices and a decline in real wages, the proposal to increase the basic wage by 2% based on Type 2, the non-retroactive holiday allowance, and the freezing of longevity allowances leave discrimination against school irregular workers unaddressed," they said, adding, "Although the labor union has repeatedly demanded the elimination of wage gaps, the union is being driven to a total strike."

They declared, "We will reject any discrimination against irregular workers," and demanded ▲ collective wage negotiations ▲ the formation of a labor-management consultative body to reform the wage system ▲ and the application of welfare allowances based on the same standards as regular workers.
If wage negotiations are not met, they plan to hold a total strike rally in the Gyeongnam region on the 31st and commence the strike.
The provincial office of education has prepared countermeasures for the total strike and plans to ensure that academic operations such as elementary care, special education, and school meals are not disrupted.
