[AI Revolution]⑥ "My stomach hurts," and the answer I got from AI in 3 seconds

'Goodoc' First AI Chatbot in the Domestic Healthcare Industry

[AI Revolution]⑥ "My stomach hurts," and the answer I got from AI in 3 seconds

"My stomach hurts."

"Have you experienced other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea?"

"I feel nauseous."

"1. Rest, 2. Drink plenty of fluids, 3. Avoid solid foods, 4. Take over-the-counter medications like antacids."

This is a conversation with the healthcare platform 'Goodoc.' It takes only 3 seconds to get a response. There is no need to visit a hospital, register, or wait. Goodoc recently developed a 'Health AI Chatbot' based on ChatGPT, the first of its kind in the domestic industry. It has partnered with over 6,000 medical institutions nationwide and created a mobile platform that offers telemedicine, hospital reservations, and registration services. The cumulative number of hospital reservations and registrations has reached 35 million. Last year, it also secured Series A funding worth 21 billion KRW.

The Health AI Chatbot is a service that allows easy health-related consultations through an application. It provides real-time consultations 24/7. Depending on the questions, Goodoc connects users to its existing services such as telemedicine, hospital reservations, and the clinic market. Goodoc mobilized all its development personnel to create the chatbot in just three days. This was possible because ChatGPT was based on an open API.

In a recent survey conducted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, one in three people (35.8%) responded that they have used ChatGPT. As interest in AI grows and more people gain experience, Goodoc followed the trend. Unlike previous health-related chatbots that only responded to simple questions, the Health AI Chatbot understands the user's intent and provides customized answers. It applies the advantages of ChatGPT, which feels like conversing with a human, to the medical field.

When a negative response such as "This is not helpful" was given, the chatbot replied, "If symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to see a doctor," and advised, "Make an appointment with a physician or visit an urgent care center or emergency room." A system is also in place that can connect users to medical institutions where they can receive treatment with just one button based on the response.

Im Jin-seok, CEO of Goodoc, said, "About 800 people use the Health AI Chatbot daily," adding, "At first, users seemed unfamiliar with it, but the number of users is steadily increasing." Goodoc expects the Health AI Chatbot to increase users and serve as a lubricant that makes both in-person and telemedicine more convenient.

This confidence is rooted in their leadership in the industry. They gained momentum through collaboration with Samsung Electronics. Samsung recently released a new 2023 TV model equipped with the Goodoc application. Older models can also use Goodoc by updating the firmware. Naturally, the Health AI Chatbot is also available. This opens an era where users can converse with AI and even receive medical care using a remote control.
