Perpetrator Separation Demand Over 10 Days Ago, Still Working
Military Official: "Requested Audit and Will Monitor Investigation Results"
Public employees in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, who claimed they were subjected to power harassment by their team leader, have demanded separation measures, but their requests were ignored, raising concerns about secondary damage.
On the 27th, according to Muan-gun, reports were received that some public employees at the Muan-gun Youth Training Center were subjected to power harassment by Team Leader A.
They expressed, "In April last year, one employee resigned, and during the department transfer process, Team Leader A, without asking, told three employees from other departments that one of them must move to the department with the vacancy, or else all would be transferred elsewhere," adding, "He made coercive notifications and dismissive remarks."
In particular, they said, "Team Leader A does not use his own car but makes employees drive the official vehicle, and even sent multiple messages telling employees to pick him up when coming to work or to wait and go together because of overtime," adding, "At first, we thought it was just once or twice, but it continued multiple times, making it very uncomfortable and difficult to refuse."
They stated, "We reported these issues to the head of the responsible department, the manager, on the 14th and requested separation measures from Team Leader A, but no action has been taken yet," expressing, "We cannot hide our frustration and have reasonable suspicion that there might be an attempt to downplay or conceal the matter."
They also appealed, "Although the power harassment incident was reported in the media on the 10th, not only the responsible department but even the audit division did not verify the facts," adding, "We work every day worrying about secondary damage while watching Team Leader A closely."
It has been confirmed that Team Leader A is currently coming to work and performing his duties.
The head of the responsible department, Manager B, said, "Upon hearing about the power harassment on the 14th, I immediately requested an audit from the audit division," adding, "We will meet directly with the public employees to accurately ascertain the facts, separate Team Leader A, and wait for the audit team's investigation."
He continued, "Since there are tasks to be promoted at the training center, Team Leader A started coming to the training center from the 27th," explaining, "Although it is not a complete separation, we have separated by floor and will maintain this floor separation until the audit results are finalized."
An official from the audit team stated, "The investigation is currently underway," and added, "We cannot disclose detailed information."
Team Leader A said, "There was no power harassment. I like joking around and spoke lightly, but it seems that is being called power harassment," adding, "I will be more cautious in my conduct going forward."
