On the 23rd, Somagen held an installation event for the NovaSeq X Plus at its CLIA Lab located at Somagen headquarters in Maryland, USA. The event was attended by Somagen CEO Hong Soo, Sales Director Matt Kramer, and Illumina Senior Regional Manager Tara Kesteloot.
The NovaSeq X Plus is the latest ultra-precise genome analysis system from Illumina, the world's largest genome analysis equipment manufacturer, capable of processing whole genome sequencing for over 20,000 people annually. Compared to the previous NovaSeq 6000, which could process 8,000 whole genome analyses per unit annually, the genome analysis throughput has increased more than 2.5 times, enabling faster and more accurate genome analysis.
Somagen has been providing the best NGS analysis services in the North American region by utilizing the latest sequencing equipment platforms, including NovaSeq. Based on this, since its KOSDAQ listing in 2020, it has more than doubled its annual sales within two years and succeeded in turning a profit in the second half of last year.
Somagen CEO Hong Soo stated, “With the introduction of the NovaSeq X Plus, the scale of genome analysis that can be tested at once has increased,” adding, “Somagen will broadly provide rapid and accurate large-scale genome analysis services in the North American NGS market through the NovaSeq X Plus and continue to increase sales profits.”
Since its establishment in 2004, Somagen has continuously increased its recognition and market share in the U.S. by providing high-quality genome analysis sequencing solutions to universities and related institutions across the country. Subsequently, in July 2020, it successfully entered the KOSDAQ market as the first foreign company to be listed through a technology special listing, securing a stable position in the U.S. genome analysis service market.
