Gwangju Dong-gu 'Job Sharing Cafe' Operation Management Lax

Numerous Flaws Including Missing Hiring Agency Names in Titles

Categories Classified Differently from Work Manual

Former Staff: "Will Pay Attention to Operation Management Through Employee Training"

It has been revealed that the 'Job Sharing Cafe,' a pledge project by Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is being managed carelessly.

There are demands for countermeasures as the names of hiring organizations, which are the most important information in job postings, are missing, and category classifications are being made differently from the work manual.

Gwangju Dong-gu 'Job Sharing Cafe' Operation Management Lax

According to Dong-gu on the 27th, the district opened the 'Job Sharing Cafe' in 2019 to make public job information easy and quick to find.

The sharing cafe was promoted as a pledge project of the 7th local government administration and provides employment information such as ▲public jobs in our district ▲public jobs in other regions ▲private sector jobs. Annual operating costs range from 2 to 7 million KRW, and the annual labor cost for one fixed-term worker dedicated to related tasks is 17 million KRW.

Despite such investment, it has been revealed that many job postings do not even display the name of the hiring organization, making the purpose of the site meaningless.

The absence of key information in post titles makes it difficult to grasp the general information at a glance, increasing inconvenience for users.

Examples of problematic titles include 'Daegu Headquarters Namdaegu Branch Non-regular Replacement Worker (Fixed-term Worker) Recruitment Notice' and '2023 1st New Employee (Contract) Recruitment Announcement.' The most important hiring organization name is missing, so users have to click to find out.

Such posts accounted for about 16 to 20 out of 167 cases this year alone, exceeding 10% of the total.

Job information is also not classified or processed according to the work manual.

Since this year, the district has established a standard to post only recruitment information from Seo-gu, Nam-gu, Buk-gu, and Gwangsan-gu, excluding other regions and Dong-gu, on the 'Public Jobs in Other Regions' page.

This is intended to provide practical and effective customized information to local residents and enhance the site's utility value. However, contrary to this good intention, recruitment information from Gyeonggi, Incheon, Chungcheong, Gyeongnam, and other regions is still posted.

The 'Other Job News' category, which provides useful information for job seekers such as job fairs, events, and special lectures related to jobs, was neglected for a while but has recently returned to normal operation. It recorded only 4 cases in 2020 and 1 case in 2021 but suddenly soared to 148 cases in 2022.

During this inconsistent operation, the number of visitors to the homepage last year was 110,048, a 14% decrease compared to 2021.

A district official said, "We will pay more attention to managing the homepage operation so that local residents do not experience inconvenience," and added, "We will conduct guidance and inspections again to ensure that the responsible staff thoroughly understands the work manual."
