Eunpyeong-gu Provides Up to 600,000 KRW Support for Care Expenses of Single-Person Households

Up to 600,000 KRW Nursing Care Fee Support for Vulnerable Single-Person Households... First in Seoul's Autonomous Districts

Reducing Economic Burden for Single-Person Households, Promoting Emotional Stability and Healthy Living

Strengthening Public Care System with Customized Support to Cover Blind Spots

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will implement the ‘Eunbit SOL Care’ project, providing up to 600,000 KRW annually in nursing care fees for single-person households requiring care due to hospitalization.

‘Eunbit SOL Care’ means providing ‘care’ to the ‘shining solo (SOLO)’ single-person households of ‘Eunpyeong’ and is one of the specialized projects under Eunpyeong-gu’s single-person household policy ‘Eunbit SOL.’

This nursing care fee support is the first of its kind in Seoul. It aims to reduce the economic burden on single-person households, who are relatively isolated socially or lack care systems, and to support healthy living.

The support target is single-person households with an income at or below 100% of the median income (2,077,892 KRW) who are hospitalized and receive nursing care services through a nursing care intermediary agency. Those receiving similar benefits such as disability activity support benefits or long-term care benefits for the elderly are restricted from receiving this support.

The nursing care fee is supported up to 100,000 KRW per day, with up to 3 days covered for less than 10 days of nursing care use, and 6 days for 10 days or more. The support rate varies from 70% to 100% depending on income level and degree of disability.

Applications will be accepted from the 27th at the local community service centers of the applicant’s address. After initial consultation, application documents can be submitted by visit or mail. Detailed information including required documents can be found in the announcement posted on the district office website.

Earlier, on the 21st, the district signed a mutual cooperation agreement with Geunsarang Nanum Nursing Association to establish a stable service system. To ensure the successful settlement of the new project, promotion will be strengthened focusing on welfare facilities and medical institutions of hospital level or higher within the region.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We will prevent social isolation and strengthen the public care system through customized support that meets the diverse policy needs of single-person households,” adding, “We will continue to strive to make Eunpyeong a place where any single-person household can live with peace of mind.”

Gwangjin-gu Provides Up to 240,000 KRW Welfare Points Annually to Long-Term Care Workers

First in Seoul to Support All Long-Term Care Institutions Including Visiting Care Facilities, Not Just Institutional Care

Applications Open Until the 31st, Targeting Long-Term Care Workers Employed for Over One Year at Local Institutions as of Application Date

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is launching the ‘Gwangjin-gu Long-Term Care Worker Welfare Points Support Project’ to improve the treatment of long-term care workers.

For the first time in Seoul, the project supports up to 240,000 KRW in welfare points annually for long-term care workers who have worked for over one year at any of the 122 long-term care institutions in Gwangjin-gu, including both institutional care and visiting care facilities.

A survey conducted from March to October last year targeting 232 long-term care workers revealed that they cited ▲low wages ▲job insecurity ▲low social recognition ▲high labor intensity as their main difficulties.

Accordingly, the district decided to implement this support project after collecting field opinions through ‘Long-Term Care Institution Communication Meetings’ and ‘Support Project Briefings’ to provide better working conditions for long-term care workers delivering elder care services under challenging environments.

The eligibility criterion is long-term care workers employed for over one year at long-term care institutions located in Gwangjin-gu as of the application date. The support amount is differentiated monthly based on total working hours from January to December 2022. ▲Workers working 8 hours or more per day receive up to 240,000 points annually ▲Workers working 4 hours or more per day receive up to 120,000 points annually.

Eligible long-term care workers should apply for welfare points at their current long-term care institution by March 31.

The points can be used for purchasing traditional market gift certificates, using sports facilities such as gyms, health checkup costs, childcare expenses, language test fees, and more.

Additionally, Gwangjin-gu plans to conduct a ‘Long-Term Care Worker Healing Program,’ job competency training, and a ‘Long-Term Care Worker Awareness Improvement Campaign’ to foster a respectful care environment as part of efforts to improve treatment for long-term care workers.

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “Through continuous improvement of treatment, we will do our best to provide better jobs for long-term care workers who provide reliable care services beside the elderly and better care environments for the elderly.”

Gangnam-gu Supports Startups by Growth Stage to Lead Overseas Investment Attraction

March 24 to April 14: Recruiting 20 Companies for Startup IR Activation Support Project, Domestic and Overseas Investor Briefings and Technology Cooperation Matching with Global Corporations

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Sung-myung), together with the Korea Venture Business Association (Chairman Sung Sang-yeop), is recruiting 20 companies by April 14 for the ‘2023 Gangnam-gu Global Startup IR Activation Support Project.’ This project discovers excellent startups located in Gangnam-gu, supports their growth by stage, and assists their overseas expansion.

Over the past three years, the district has supported a total of 71 companies, achieving cumulative sales of 78.3 billion KRW, employment of 756 people, and investment attraction of 16.4 billion KRW. This year, support programs for globalization of participating companies will be further strengthened, and open innovation with global corporations will be supported.

20 Companies Selected, Supporting Global Market Entry by Growth Stage

Participating companies will be selected through a first-round document evaluation by venture investment specialists and a second-round investment audition. Through this process, 20 excellent startups capable of attracting investment will be chosen.

Afterward, customized accelerating programs and IR consulting will be provided. The growth stages of companies are divided into three: ▲Investment Preparation Stage ▲SEED (Idea Implementation and Profitability Verification) ▲Pre-A (Prototype Development and Beta Open Preparation Stage), with consulting tailored to each stage. The ultimate goal is to support company growth to reach the ‘Series A stage,’ the global market entry phase.

Support for Domestic and Overseas Practical Investment Briefings

Companies completing the accelerating program will participate in domestic investment attraction briefings. Support includes IR presentations, investor consultations, and practical presentation skill enhancement to provide real investment opportunities. Additionally, four outstanding tech startups (based on AI, 5G, cloud technologies) suitable for entry into the Canadian market will be selected to hold overseas investment attraction briefings. Support will be provided for attending ‘Collision 2023,’ North America’s largest startup conference held in Toronto, Canada, in June, along with related events.

Collaboration with Global Corporations through Demonstration Projects and Open Innovation

The Overseas Demonstration Support Pre-PoC program involves applying startups’ innovative solutions to tangible and intangible assets of global corporations for a certain period, followed by subsequent cooperation based on results. Over the past three years, 40 companies have conducted demonstration projects with major corporations such as Philips and L’Or?al through US and European Pre-PoCs.

This year’s newly introduced Global Open Innovation program is designed to expand technology cooperation channels with global companies. After recruiting global corporations wishing to collaborate with domestic companies, it provides overseas market entry opportunities through technology cooperation with companies possessing compatible items.

Applications must be submitted online or in person to the Korea Venture Business Association. For more details, visit the Gangnam-gu Office website, the Korea Venture Business Association website, or contact the Gangnam-gu Job Policy Division or the Korea Venture Business Association.

Mayor Jo Sung-myung of Gangnam-gu said, “Gangnam-gu is the undisputed startup mecca, housing 11 of the nation’s 19 unicorn companies as of the end of last year,” adding, “This year, we will actively support startups’ global market entry so they can grow into unicorn companies.”
