Gwangju Buk-gu Receives Ministerial Award for Excellence in Green Remodeling of Public Buildings

‘Public Building Green Remodeling’ is a project that supports energy performance improvement and efficiency enhancement for aging public buildings to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a comfortable living environment. It is one of the nation’s core strategic projects for carbon neutrality.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport selected institutions and individuals who contributed to the expansion and promotion of the green remodeling project and presented this award.

Buk-gu was recognized for its solid progress in remodeling 23 national and public daycare centers and health centers by actively responding to the green remodeling contest project since 2021, earning the commendation.

After successfully completing the remodeling of 16 national and public daycare centers last year, Buk-gu plans to complete an additional health center and one national and public daycare center by mid-year.

In addition, six national and public daycare centers selected in the 2022 green remodeling contest project are currently undergoing detailed design and other processes, aiming for completion this year with a total project cost of about 3.3 billion KRW.

In particular, two national and public daycare centers and a health center were selected as signature projects of green remodeling, where high-quality designs considering performance and aesthetics, along with various technical elements, will be applied.

Moon In, the mayor of Buk-gu, said, “Taking this award as an opportunity, we will further strengthen cooperation with related organizations to successfully lead the green remodeling project,” and added, “We will continue to discover and promote various green projects to make Buk-gu a leading city for carbon neutrality.”
