Celebration of the Development Forum
Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on the 26th that he will "firmly implement an open strategy of mutual benefit and common prosperity."
According to local Chinese media, President Xi stated in a congratulatory message sent to the China Development High-Level Forum (hereinafter referred to as the Development Forum) that "the world is currently experiencing unprecedented major changes accelerating, with frequent regional conflicts and unrest, and a lack of momentum for global economic recovery."
President Xi emphasized, "China will adhere to the fundamental national policy of opening up, firmly implement an open strategy of mutual benefit and common prosperity," and added, "We will continuously provide the world with new opportunities through China's new development." He further stated, "We will steadily expand institutional openness in areas such as rules, regulations, management, and standards, sharing opportunities for institutional openness with countries and parties worldwide."
The Development Forum was established in 2000 and has become a major platform for China's foreign economic exchanges. This year's forum was held face-to-face for the first time in three years since the outbreak of COVID-19. Under the theme "Economic Recovery: Opportunities and Cooperation," the forum was attended by more than 30 senior officials from China's central government departments, over 20 heads of state-owned enterprises and financial institutions, and about 100 overseas participants. Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, and Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, visited China to attend the forum.
