Lee Jae-yong Visits Samsung Factory in Tianjin... Meets with Secretary Chen Min'er

After three years since his visit to Samsung Electronics' semiconductor factory in Xi'an, Shanxi Province, China in 2020, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited China again and met with Tianjin Party Secretary Chen Min'er in Tianjin, where Samsung factories are concentrated.

In Tianjin, there are Samsung Electro-Mechanics MLCC and camera module production plants, as well as Samsung Display's OLED module production plant for smartphones. Additionally, Samsung SDI produces secondary batteries used in smart devices and electric vehicles in Tianjin, China.


Discussions related to business in China took place. Attending the meeting were Samsung officials including Choi Joo-sun, President of Samsung Display; Jang Deok-hyun, President of Samsung Electro-Mechanics; and Yang Geol, Head of Samsung Electronics China Strategy Cooperation Office (President), along with officials from the Tianjin municipal government.


Meanwhile, the "China Development High-Level Forum" opened on the 25th at Diaoyutai, Beijing, China, under the theme "Economic Recovery: Opportunities and Cooperation." The forum, held until the 27th, was attended by about 100 global corporate executives including Chairman Lee, who is inspecting business sites during his first visit to China in three years, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, as well as senior officials from China's central government ministries, heads of state-owned enterprises and financial institutions, and renowned domestic and international scholars.


Established in 2000, the Development Forum is an external economic exchange platform hosted by the Development Research Center of the State Council, the administrative body of China, and organized by the China Development Research Foundation. The forum was held offline for the first time in three years.
