Japanese Government Reflects Budget of Approximately 2 Trillion Won

According to Kyodo News on the 25th, the Japanese government has decided to retrofit all eight Aegis destroyers owned by the Maritime Self-Defense Force to be capable of carrying 'Tomahawk' cruise missiles by 2027.

According to the report, the Japanese government allocated 211.3 billion yen (approximately 2.1 trillion won) in the 2023 fiscal year budget (April 2023 to March 2024) to introduce 400 Tomahawk 'Block 5' missiles. The Block 5 is the latest cruise missile with a range of about 1,600 km.

In December last year, the Japanese government decided to possess a 'counterattack capability' to strike enemy missile launch bases and is promoting the acquisition of long-range strike means for this purpose.
