Miryang City Hosts Special Lecture by Former Chief Secretary for Policy Coordination Koo Yoon-cheol

Global Era Preparation, Milyang Development Strategy

On the 24th, Miryang City in Gyeongnam held a special lecture at the city hall auditorium, inviting former Secretary-General of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Koo Yoon-cheol (currently CEO of the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation) on the theme of "Development Strategies for Miryang City in the Global Era."


The lecture was attended by over 200 participants, including senior public officials (section chiefs and above), key strategic department personnel, and team leaders or higher from affiliated organizations, addressing the crisis of local extinction and responses to the global era.

Former Secretary-General Koo Yoon-cheol first explained the current status of South Korea, the outlook for the Korean economy, and regional development strategies aligned with the national development strategy direction.


He particularly presented concrete methods for responding to population decline and securing customized national funding, emphasizing the need to develop unique new projects specific to Miryang City to garner consensus from the central government and citizens.


He also advised that it is necessary to accurately diagnose the city's current situation, analyze successful development cases from other regions, identify Miryang City's strengths and competitiveness, and establish city administration development strategies by focusing all capabilities on the selected areas.


Former Secretary-General Koo Yoon-cheol was born in Daegu, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Economics, passed the 32nd Administrative Examination, and served in top-level positions for over 16 years, including Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance and Director of the Budget Office.


He served as the longest-tenured Secretary-General of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, retiring in June last year, and was appointed CEO of the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation in February this year, continuing various activities.


Mayor Park Il-ho said, "It was a valuable time to learn the know-how of securing national funds from an administrative expert," adding, "As Miryang City enters the era of a 1 trillion won budget, I hope we will pursue challenging administration with a proactive mindset for the city's development and the next 100 years." He also stated, "The key projects we are currently focusing on have been prepared for the past eight years, and we must continue to discover projects that can become Miryang's sources of growth."
