Yeosu City Enrolls in 'Citizen Safety Insurance'... Coverage Up to 20 Million Won

A Total of 56 Cases and 431 Million Won Paid to Date

Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 24th that it has recently enrolled all citizens in the 'Citizen Safety Insurance.'


Citizens registered in Yeosu City (including registered foreigners) can receive insurance payments of up to 20 million KRW in the event of disasters and safety accidents anywhere nationwide until March 5th of next year.

The coverage items include ▲death from natural disasters ▲injury, death, and aftereffects from explosion, fire, and collapse accidents ▲injury, death, and aftereffects from public transportation use ▲injury, death, and aftereffects from robbery ▲treatment costs for traffic accident injuries in school zones and silver zones ▲death from drowning accidents ▲injury, death, and aftereffects from agricultural machinery accidents ▲death consolation money for acute infectious diseases ▲death from social disasters ▲emergency room treatment costs for dog bite accidents, among 15 items.


Insurance claims must be filed within three years from the date of the accident by the insured person or legal heirs to the insurance company. Claims can also be made concurrently with personal insurance.


A city official stated, "We will continuously promote the Citizen Safety Insurance to ensure no citizen is excluded from the benefits," adding, "We plan to expand the coverage items so that citizens can receive more benefits."


Meanwhile, since Yeosu City first enrolled in the 'Citizen Safety Insurance' in 2020, a total of 431 million KRW in insurance payments has been made for 56 cases to date.
