Busan Gijang-gun, Gijang-gun Council, and the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) signed a cooperation agreement on the 24th at the resident consultation room on the 2nd floor of the Gijang-gun Council to successfully promote the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame.
At the event, Jeong Jong-bok, Mayor of Gijang-gun, Park Woo-sik, Chairman of the Gijang-gun Council, council members, and Heo Gu-yeon, KBO Commissioner, attended and united their intentions to successfully establish the Hall of Fame to promote regional development in Gijang-gun and expand the base of Korean baseball.
Mayor Jeong Jong-bok said, “The Korea Baseball Hall of Fame is a core strategic project of the Gijang Baseball Theme Park within Ilgwang Amusement Park. With the signing of this cooperation agreement, the Hall of Fame will be able to achieve results in a timely manner,” adding, “We will spare no effort to actively support the successful promotion of this project.”
Park Woo-sik, Chairman of the Gijang-gun Council, stated, “The Hall of Fame will increase opportunities for parents with young children and residents to enjoy sports culture and contribute to the development of the local economy through linkage with the Gijang Baseball Theme Park,” and requested, “We ask for KBO’s great interest and support to ensure effective implementation.”
Heo Gu-yeon, KBO Commissioner, said, “I am pleased to be able to successfully promote a grand vessel that encompasses 110 years of Korean baseball history in solidarity with the local community,” and added, “The KBO will actively engage in various projects to revitalize the Hall of Fame.”

The Hall of Fame (Korea Baseball Museum), which has been promoted since 2014, is located within Ilgwang Amusement Park (Gijang Baseball Theme Park) in Gijang-gun, with a site area of 1,852㎡, and consists of one basement floor to three above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,996.2㎡.
The Hall of Fame is scheduled to open in 2026 and will feature exhibitions of 50,000 artifacts owned by the KBO, baseball-related programs such as induction ceremonies, and special events.
