'Anti-Japanese Humiliating Diplomacy' Press Conference
"If Pro-Japanese Stance Persists, Tragedy Will Repeat"
Students and alumni of Sungkyunkwan University held a political statement on the 24th, condemning the government's forced labor compensation solution as a 'pro-Japanese humiliating diplomacy.'
The group of Sungkyunkwan University alumni, 'Sungkyunkwan People Opposing President Yoon Suk-yeol's Pro-Japanese Humiliating Diplomacy,' held a 'Anti-Pro-Japanese Humiliating Diplomacy Political Statement Press Conference' in front of the main gate of Sungkyunkwan University's Myeongnyun Campus on the same day.

They held placards with phrases such as 'Withdraw the humiliating forced labor solution' and 'Yoon Suk-yeol Pro-Japanese Humiliating Diplomacy OUT,' raising their voices against President Yoon Suk-yeol's humiliating diplomacy that sold out the country and nation.
They also criticized the government's forced labor solution, the 'third repayment plan,' saying, "President Yoon denied the Supreme Court's ruling ordering Japanese war crime companies to compensate for forced labor," adding, "This is an absurd solution where we, the victims, are to compensate instead of Japan, the perpetrator."
They continued, "The Supreme Court's ruling cannot be overturned arbitrarily by the president. This forced labor solution is an unconstitutional act that ignores the principle of separation of powers."
Furthermore, "If President Yoon maintains such a treasonous stance on the forced labor issue, the same tragedy will repeat," they emphasized, "As an educational institution representing the nation, Sungkyunkwan will take the lead in opposing pro-Japanese humiliating diplomacy to preserve its legacy."
Meanwhile, voices criticizing the government's forced labor solution have recently spread to academia and civil society. On the 21st, the 'Daegu-Gyeongbuk Professors and Researchers Solidarity for Democratic and Equal Society,' an intellectual group from Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and the 'Professional Organizations Council' held an emergency political statement condemning the government's diplomacy toward Japan in front of the 'Statue of Peace' at the 2.28 Memorial Park in Jung-gu, Daegu.
