The Financial Supervisory Service announced on the 24th that the number of successful candidates for this year's first Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam was 2,624.

According to the FSS, 13,733 candidates took the 58th CPA first exam held on the 26th of last month, recording a competition ratio of 5.2 to 1.


The minimum passing score was 351.0 out of a total of 550 points, which is 45.0 points lower than the previous year. The average score across all subjects was 63.8 points, down 8.2 points.


Among the successful candidates, those in their late 20s accounted for the largest share at 52.9%, followed by early 20s at 37.0%, and early 30s at 8.6%. The proportion of women increased to 38.2%.


By educational background, 63.4% of the successful candidates were university students, and by major, 71.1% were from the business and economics field.


The expected number of candidates for this year's second exam is 4,265, with a competition ratio of 3.9 to 1. The application period is from May 11 to 24, and the exam dates are June 24 to 25. The final successful candidates are scheduled to be announced on August 31.
