Official Announcement from LPGA Tour... Other Tournament Scheduled
The U.S. Women's Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour's Taiwan Swinging Skirts tournament (total prize money of $2.2 million) has been canceled for the fourth consecutive year.
On the 23rd (local time), the LPGA Tour announced, "We have agreed with the Swinging Skirts Golf Foundation to cancel the Taiwan Swinging Skirts tournament." It was scheduled to take place over four days starting October 26 in Taipei, Taiwan. The reason for the cancellation was not clearly stated, only described as "operational issues."
The Taiwan Swinging Skirts was one of the pillars of the LPGA Tour's fall Asia Series, held sequentially in four countries: China, Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. It was not held for three years from 2020 to last year due to the global spread of COVID-19. This year, it seemed to resume after four years but was canceled again. The LPGA Tour will soon announce plans to hold another tournament to replace the Korea Swinging Skirts.
