Gwangju Metropolitan City Bitgoeul 50+ Center announced on the 24th that it has launched the first session of the Retirement Preparation Academy in collaboration with the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the National Pension Service to provide practical assistance to middle-aged citizens.
The Retirement Preparation Academy held three sessions last year in response to the era of 100-year lifespans.
The education targets middle-aged residents of Gwangju aged 45 to 64, with classes held every Thursday for 2 hours per session, accommodating around 25 participants per session considering the center’s lecture hall environment. Each session consists of 6 classes, and a total of 3 sessions are planned for this year as well.
The main curriculum is conducted under the theme of "Wise Retirement Life," featuring five lectures on retirement preparation and specialized retirement counseling. The program invites four professional instructors and four expert counselors from the National Pension Service.
Additionally, topics include interpersonal relationships, general retirement preparation, finance, health, leisure, and job introductions suitable for middle-aged individuals. Following this, all participants receive detailed one-on-one counseling from professional counselors.
This program aims to support thorough retirement preparation in an environment where relying on children is difficult in the era of 100-year lifespans.
A representative from Bitgoeul 50+ Center stated, "We will fulfill our responsibility as a specialized institution that provides opportunities for learning and experience to redesign one’s life, helping middle-aged citizens shine in their lives and fostering warm respect for them to blossom and bear fruit in the field."
