High-Ranking Officials' Asset Declarations... Ji Young-mi, Director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, Reports 5.2 Billion KRW

67 People Including December Appointments and Retirements Disclose Assets... Bang Seungchan, Former Director of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Tops with 9.5 Billion KRW

Jiyoungmi, the Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, declared assets worth approximately 5.2 billion KRW. She is the wife of Professor Lee Cheol-woo of Yonsei University Law School, a classmate of President Yoon Seok-yeol from Daekwang Elementary School and Seoul National University Law School. Commissioner Ji was appointed last December as the successor to former Commissioner Baek Kyung-ran, who resigned amid controversy.


On the 24th, the Government Official Ethics Committee published the asset registration details of high-ranking officials appointed last December in the electronic official gazette. The disclosure covers a total of 67 individuals, including 12 newly appointed, 24 promoted, and 28 retired officials during the period.

Among the disclosed individuals, Bang Seung-chan, President of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), reported the highest assets at 9.57 billion KRW. President Bang owns real estate valued at 5.42 billion KRW, including an apartment in Seo-gu, Daejeon, a complex building in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and an apartment in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, jointly owned with his spouse. He also declared deposits totaling 3.07 billion KRW owned by himself, his spouse, and two children.


Commissioner Ji declared assets totaling 5.2 billion KRW, including land worth 2.89 billion KRW in Sangsu-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, and buildings worth 1.72 billion KRW such as a row house in Singyo-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.


Former Commissioner Baek, who retired last December, was found to hold assets worth 6.09 billion KRW. This includes an apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, owned by her spouse, as well as deposits, showing a slight decrease from 6.15 billion KRW in May last year. Notably, she sold all her bio-related stocks under her name, including SK Bioscience (30 shares), SK Biopharm (25 shares), Bodytech Med (166 shares), and Syntekabio (3,332 shares), which had been the subject of controversy.


Additionally, Choi Yeon-hye, President of Korea Gas Corporation (2.57 billion KRW), Song Ha-cheol, President of Mokpo National University (1.4 billion KRW), and Lee Kyung-hoon, Deputy Director of the Cultural Heritage Administration (3.37 billion KRW), also reported their assets.
