Choi Man-rim, Deputy Governor, Conducts Safety Inspection at Event Venue
Choi Man-rim, Deputy Governor of Gyeongnam Province, inspected the venue of the 61st Jinhae Gunhangje Festival on the 23rd.
According to Gyeongnam Province, the Jinhae Gunhangje, the largest cherry blossom festival in the province, is resuming after four years due to the impact of COVID-19.
The festival will be held for ten days from the 24th, when the eve event takes place, until April 3rd throughout Jinhae-gu, Changwon City.
The province expects 4.5 million visitors to this festival and, concerned about safety accidents due to crowd congestion, gas explosion accidents at food venues, and traffic congestion-related safety incidents, conducted a prior safety inspection with the event organizer Changwon City, police, and fire departments.
During the Gunhangje period, safety management personnel wearing ‘green vests’ will be stationed throughout the venue to allow festival visitors to seek help at any time.
Earlier, on the 15th, a pre-inspection of the safety management plan for the Jinhae Gunhangje was conducted at a meeting on local festival and outdoor event safety management measures attended by deputy heads of cities and counties, related agencies, and department heads.

On that day, Deputy Governor Choi toured major venues such as Jinhaeru, the Public Stadium, and Yeojuacheon, checking the safety management plan including order maintenance and accident prevention, and also confirmed traffic management measures such as parking lots.
Issues pointed out in each field such as facilities, electricity, gas, and fire safety were addressed to be corrected before the festival starts.
Deputy Governor Choi said, “As various spring flower festivals are held in cities and counties starting with the Jinhae Gunhangje, I urge the safety general departments and event organizing departments to devote all their efforts to proactive safety management,” adding, “I also hope the residents actively participate by observing public order to prevent accidents.”
